Backlog: The best way to manage your projects. Wiki, tasks, files all in one place. This is like taking good parts of JIRA and Trello, combined into one tool. You can start for free.
Square: You might have already used Square before – but the company offers a wide range of payment solutions to get your business off the ground, from card payment to invoice to ecommerce.
Business idea: Vertical – Mobile Native Productivity Tools.
Almost all productivity tools are built for computer screens first, and then expanded to mobile.
However, like Snapchat is a mobile-native app and got popularity, why can’t that be done with productivity tools? Vertical shows you that it’s possible.
Vertical starts with Gantt charts.
Why? It’s popular to manage project dependencies and roadmaps (Asana/Jira), but super hard to consume on mobile (almost to the point impossible).
Why don’t we make a Gantt chart vertically scrollable?
With Vertical, every team member can check his/her roadmap and upcoming tasks quickly, then horizontally scroll to see other projects.
It’s like Trello’s cards becoming a timeline / lists becoming a project. You can filter projects by assignees, keywords, etc.
For the business model, Vertical charges a one-time payment for the app.
Based on user requests, it could add a suite of productivity tools like vertically scrollable calendars and presentations.
Once having multiple tools it can switch to monthly subscriptions like Adobe Cloud.
As more companies become remote and mobile, it’d be interesting to see how these mobile-native tools grow.
